Pinnacles & Camping

Coles was only one of two stops we made today. We were behind schedule and didn’t get to see everything in our itinerary. On the plus side, my threshold for being in a car without wanting to jump out is getting better!

We spent the night in Fremantle, at a YHA Hostel that used to be part of a women’s prison. Cells were repurposed into living quarters & bathrooms.

Our room was part of an additional building to house groups of people with an ensuite. I took the bunk bed. Viv and Frank rocked the queen.

We left at 8:00 to grab groceries & snacks for the drive ahead.

The first & only attraction we got to see today was The Pinnacles, a set of curious rock formations that geologists still can’t agree on how they formed.

It’s $13 to get in, and it includes driving through the reserve down a one way road where you can park your car & explore the area. You can then head over to the museum & gift shop (not that great).

We saw a penis shaped rock, so we had to play with it!

We got our camp site at Lucky Bay at around 18:00, where we set up camp & had dinner. We shared a table with Victoria & Job, exchanging stories & places we’ve been. They were particularly interested in Frank & Viv’s itinerary in WA, as they had much more travelling to do.

Victoria is from Austria, studying on exchange in Melbourne. Job is from The Netherlands, who met Victoria while doing his PhD in Amsterdam & got together with her. They’re both now travelling to different parts of Australia while they’re still here.

Hotdogs & instant soup for dinner.

Job & Victoria joined us to watch the sunset.
