Drift Snorkelling at Turquoise Bay

We spent the day snorkelling at Turquoise Bay, a beautiful beach with coral reefs just a stone’s throw away from the shore.

This is a funny one. The waves break quite far from the shore, so the water is calm & ideal for snorkelling. But(!),    an excess of water enters this “zone” & has to somehow get back to the ocean, causing a constant rip. It means that while the waters look calm, there’s a moderate current that pulls you towards the rip, then once you’re caught in it, well.. adios amigo.

So here at Turquoise Bay, you walk up the beach, swim out, snorkel & let the current drift you down while looking at stuff. Then quickly swim back to shore before reaching the rip.

I did one snorkel with Viv & Frank, then I was done.

We stayed at a resort/hotel in town (Exmouth) & cooked steaks for dinner. Swapped pics with Nika back at home, who was eating Tim Tams.
