Day 438 - The snow shoes
We hired a car and drove up to Mt Seymour for a day of snow shoeing.
Before heading out, we grabbed some croissants from Plaisir Sucré on Arbutus. We noticed that Peter and John were dressed in all blue and red respectively, like Power Rangers.
We had to park along the road— I think the main car park was reserved for people who were skiing or snowboarding. We walked to the start with our snow shoes by our side.
After about 30 minutes of walking with awkward snow shoes on (but felt like an hour) we stopped at a hill to eat lunch. Snow shoeing is annoyingly strenuous. You’ve got these large, pivoting platforms attached to your shoes, trudging through snow and feeling overheated or chilly as you transition frequently between sun and shadow.
We reached the peak of the trail after a steep ascent up well-trodden snow. The views and silence is worth the effort.
Heading back down was harder on the knees, but much more fun. We took the chance to slide down where we could.
