Day 7 - The Filipino Market

I ditched my bike for the day and commuted into town.

Riding the ol’ 401 to Brighouse Station.

I met John at The Pace, the venue of a Filipino Market that was being run today.

”Brought to you by Filipino food truck Shameless Buns and Layunin, this event will feature Filipino entrepreneurs and shine a spotlight on what their modern culture is all about.”

I was starving by the time I arrived and I was looking forward to eating the Canadian version of Hoy Pinoy. We were surprised by how busy it was. The line for the (only) food truck was massive and the crowd waiting for their food looked equally as large. So we decided to ditch the market and walked to Besties for some German food.

I love my sausages.

We returned to the market to check out their desserts. We got two cakes, halo halo and palabok popcorn. The cakes were the best. The halo halo was more like a leche flan milkshake. And the palabok popcorn was just strange-tasting popcorn.

The rest of the market was full of different stalls promoting various businesses run by Filipinos: a men’s haircare product; clothing; a photography business; cosmetics; and jewellery.
We walked through Gastown to get to Waterfront station and called it a day.

A gloomy Gastown.
